What do we need?

  1. 2 to 3 lb Chuck Roast
  2. 1 can of Beef Gravy
  3. 1 Sliced Onion or 1 packat of Lipton Onion Soup Mix
  4. Salt
  5. Pepper
  6. Aluminum Foil

Ways to do it

  1. Crock Pot
  2. Oven
  3. Pressure Cooker

Crock-Pot

Take your gravy and sliced onion or soup pack and stir them together. Put your gravy mix in first. Add your chuck roast into the pot next. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper to your liking. You can start this in the morning and add in carrots and potatoes about 1/2 way through the process to allow enough time for them to cook. If time is limited, use pre-cooked carrots and potatoes from a can. This will make a minimum of 4 average servings.

Oven

First, find an oven dish that is large enough to hold all your ingredients. Line it with a large roll of tinfoil big enough to surround and cover the meat. Mix your gravy and onion/onion soup pack. Place your check roast on the aluminum foil. Pour your gravy mix on top of the roast. Completely cover the roast and place it into the oven that is preheated to 325 or 350 depending on how long you want it to cook. At 350, it will take 4 to 5 hours to get it where it pulls off easily with a fork. 3 1/2 to 4 hours if you like it tender and cuts with a knife. Add an hour to an hour and a half at 325.

Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving. You can add carrots, potatoes, celery, and other vegetables halfway through the process to make a whole meal. I like slices of homemade bread with butter on the side to round it out. I tend to go light on the salt and pepper allowing each person to salt and pepper to their liking once served.

Pressure Cooker

When using a pressure cooker, I like using olive oil, you can also use butter or vegetable oil. Add in the oil first having the settings at medium-high heat range. Place in the pot roast browning on both sides. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper and add in the gravy mix with onion or onion powder. Seal the lid by bringing the pressure up. Then turn the temperature to low and allow to cook for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes have passed, use the relief valve to reduce the pressure to open the lid.

Add in carrots, potatoes, and other vegetables you like into the cooker. Seal the lid again bring the cooker up to full pressure for around 15 minutes. Take the lid off and place the beef and vegetables on a serving plate and start eating.
